Design draft, not live

HAPI, explained before it ships.

HAPI will be an optional score for how complete and active your Moat page is. This page sets out what it will measure, what it won't, and how you'll control it.

Status: method v0.1, September 2026. No HAPI score is calculated or shown today. We'll version this page and note every change before the score goes live.

What HAPI is

  • A summary of how complete, current and connected your page is.
  • A short list of specific things you could add or update.
  • Private to you unless you choose to show it.

What HAPI is not

  • A personality, psychological or intelligence test.
  • A judgment of your worth, your character, or whether you should be hired.
  • Shared with partner apps, sold, or used for advertising.

Five dimensions, four counted at launch.

Each dimension answers one plain question using only information you've put on your page. Nothing is inferred from outside Moat.

Planned

Cognitive

Can people see what you know?

Skills and stated proficiency, certifications, projects, publications, patents and courses.

Planned

Behavioral

Is your page kept up to date?

Sections completed, how recently you updated, and whether updates are steady rather than one-off.

Planned

Social

Are you part of the network?

Connections accepted, people who follow you, and signals such as can mentor or can refer.

Planned

Growth

Are you adding to what you know?

Certifications and courses from the last 12 months, new roles or projects, and the upskilling signal.

Not counted

Emotional

Not measured yet.

We haven't found a fair way to infer this from profile data. Until we do, it won't count toward your score, and we'll say so here.

How it will be calculated

Each measured dimension gets a value from 0 to 100 based on its inputs. Your overall HAPI score is the average of the measured dimensions, equally weighted in v0.1. If we change the weights, the new weights appear here with a new version number before they take effect.

RangeLabelWhat it usually means
0 to 39Getting startedSeveral sections are empty or haven't been touched in a while.
40 to 69Taking shapeThe basics are there. A few additions would round it out.
70 to 100Well developedYour page is detailed, current and connected.

When it changes

The score recalculates when you save your page, at most once a day. It can move when you add something, when a certification passes its expiry date, or when time passes without updates. It won't move because of anything another person does to your page.

Why we're publishing this first

Scores people can't inspect lose their trust quickly. Credit scores publish what goes into them, and web performance tools publish their exact weights. HAPI will follow the same rule: if it affects how you appear, you should be able to read how it works.

Your controls

  • Off by default. Only you see your score until you turn on "Show HAPI on my page".
  • Hide it any time. Turning it off removes it from your page and from every card partner apps show.
  • No hidden uses. HAPI won't decide what you can do on Moat, and it won't be sent to partner apps unless you choose to show it.

About HAPI.

What does HAPI stand for?

It's the name of the score, drawn from the dimensions it looks at. We'd rather you judge it by the method above than by the acronym.

Is HAPI backed by research?

It's a transparent summary of your page, not a validated psychological measure, and we won't describe it as one. If we ever run a validation study, we'll link it here.

Can I give feedback on the method?

Please do. The method is a draft so it can still change. Send us your thoughts.
